I am 51 and I am losing my memory and brain is complete mush. I thought I was getting dementia or had an underactive thyroid and it turns out it was menopause.
One day I had to walk home after doing a weekly shop, after my car ran out of petrol I knew I was running low but I’d forgotten when the petrol light went on. Also I forgot my phone for the third time going out this week!! So couldn’t ring anyone.
Another time I took money out of a cash machine and left it there. Then couldn't remember if I had taken money out or where I had put it if I did. I just couldn't remember. I was lucky there was an honest person behind me . They handed the money into the bank.
Brain fog, lack of concentration and all on top of it all trying to properly run a household, hold a job (that is getting totally impossible) and sorting out everyone else's problems. I am mentally and emotionally exhausted, and intellectually I know I need to cut myself some slack, it is so hard to manage when I can't remember anything.
